Campaigning in Liverpool Riverside
Kegang is passionate about Liverpool Riverside after living and working in the city for more than 15 years. He was known to be instrumental in setting up the twining arrangement for Liverpool and Shanghai. In managing various business support projects, helping hundreds of local firms to grow through international trade, and involving in community projects, he resonates with the constituents and the local businesses.
Kegang is a strong believer in the potential of Liverpool Riverside. Despite being the heart of Liverpool and the City Region, with its thriving new city centre business, two world class universities and the Institute of Performing Art, a World Heritage site, the port and many tourist attractions, unemployment remains high for locals in the constituents. Some areas have not seen improvements for years. As a constituency Riverside provides more jobs than its population of working ages but too many locals are unable to benefit from those opportunities. He will campaign tirelessly on business issues and jobs and will work with all in the constituency for a more prosperous Riverside. He believes the businesses in the private sectors need to be better consulted for the future of the Riverside and the City.
He believes that the people in Liverpool Riverside are ready for change. Twice in the 2001 and 2005 general elections, Riverside was among the constituencies with the lowest turnouts in the country. However people are coming to the realisation that 12 years are long enough to wait. Given the state of current economy and uncertainty it is the time for a change. Real changes will not come unless the people are engaged. He is taking every possible opportunity to listen and talk to all in Riverside and he think he shares the views of the constituents that they don't want to be labelled again as one of the 'least powerful constituencies in the country'. He is convinced that more and more people in Riverside see the Conservative Party as a more progressive party and are prepared to give it a chance to represent their interest.
If elected, Kegang and his team will work diligently to represent Riverside in the Parliament and he knows he will have more support from the incoming Conservatives government, which he believes is critically important in order to bring about change and prosperity to the Liverpool Riverside. He will campaign for fairer resource allocation and more direct and innovative support to Riverside and support infrastructure projects that will benefit the people and business of Riverside. Naturally he would make the most of his experience and expertise in international business to promote Liverpool Riverside internationally.
Kegang and his team will be devoted to promote a cohesive community in a Riverside constituency that is full of characters - its white working class, students, young professionals in the city centre and Georgian Quarter, Chinatown, the Irish, the Jewish community, the black and Asian community, etc. - which represent the city's proud maritime culture and the diversity of the place.
He will work with people in Riverside for better education, training, and health care for the youth and in the deprived areas of the constituency; law and order against crime and anti-social behaviours.
He knows that people of Liverpool Riverside don't want the same as the last 12 years and are ready for change. They know they hold the key to the door of that change.
