I am truly honoured to be running for election in this lovely part of Liverpool with its much-loved green spaces, world-class hospitals, great schools, valued neighbourhood shops and prestigious local businesses. I want to make sure the character of this area and its unique cultural and architectural heritage is preserved while delivering the essential services residents need: affordable homes, GP appointments, school places, efficient transport and safe streets. It is vitally important that everyone feels safe and secure in our community and I will take a tough stance on crime and antisocial behaviour.
As a charity volunteer I work with young people and their families who face a wide range of difficult circumstances: joblessness, homelessness, addiction and poor mental health. Accessing help isn’t always easy. But I have seen first-hand how a Member of Parliament can transform people’s lives for the better and that is why I am dedicated to campaigning on the political stage. I want to ensure that ALL our voices are heard at the very heart of national and local government.
My sons have set out on their careers (one in film and one in aerospace engineering) which gives me ample time to concentrate on what I absolutely love doing: championing causes, solving problems however large or small and campaigning hard on issues that really matter to people.
Although I am a city dweller I was brought up on a farm and I adore country life so I am determined to safeguard our green spaces at all costs including the parks and woodland of West Derby and the stunning countryside in the surrounding area. My husband and my three dogs (Mary, Ricky and Twig) share my love of the outdoors.
It is a huge honour to be on the campaign trail here in wonderful Liverpool West Derby.
